Implementing Change

We are resistant to change. Change means a departure from the familiar, effort to learn anew, potential danger.

When attempting to implement change it is necessary that it is done in a collaborative way, not by doctrine. Nobody likes to be told what to do, we all want to be allowed to make our own decisions. Usually, once the information is available, people do make good decisions.

The goal of this workshop is to help people decide to work in alignment of the group's decided path to reach the common goals.

Content

Explaining the groups purpose, values and priorities

In order for everybody to be able to work towards the same goal, it needs to be clear what that is.

Identifying a big, inspiring, goal

We all want to be part of something special. We want to work on something worth-while, achieve something great. Nothing inspires, energizes, mobilizes, motivates more, and facilitates cooperation more, than a great common goal!

Discussing how the suggested change is the best way to achieve this goal

Once it is clear that the best way to reach the common goal is by going the route suggested, people are usually much less resistant and often even excited about the change. The ideal situation is, when the members of the group would demand that change, even if it was not suggested.

Deliverables

The seminar participants are clear about the purpose of existence of the organisation/group, what the organisation/group stands for, and how the organisation/group wants to accomplish its goals.

The seminar participants understand what the change is and why, and they subscribe to it.
